Forget Made in Chelsea, The Only Way Is Essex and Geordie Shore, as our very own spa town of Cheltenham is to be the subject of its own reality television show, The Cheltonians, according to a Facebook page which went live yesterday.
At the time of writing The Cheltonians Facebook page had already gone viral, racking up almost 5,000 ‘likes’ from locals – with many keen to share their views on the potential new show – and whether it might actually exist.
Some commentators couldn’t wait to find out when casting would be taking place, while others were outraged to hear the news.
‘When are we looking at starting production’, ‘The Only Way is N’ham’ and ‘Pick me’ were some of the comments left on the page.
‘Please somebody do something original. There’s too much of this **** on TV already. This will just turn out to be a bunch of self important snotty low life’s making **** of their selves,’ said another Facebook user.
While the page was launched with the comment ‘Very excited to announce we’ll be casting very soon for new reality series, The Cheltonians. Watch this space…’ there is no further information or contact details available, giving rise to doubts over the legitimacy of the claims.
Whether or not the news is real, the television show, with its strapline ‘Everyone wants to make it in this town’, has certainly struck a chord with Gloucestershire residents.
