Mark Hix Supper Clubs at Cowley Manor

10 November – Internationally renowned chef Mark Hix will be hosting a series of Supper Clubs at Cowley Manor, with the special autumn event launching in November.

Hosted by acclaimed chef Mark Hix, Cowley Manor will be running a series of supper clubs throughout the year to celebrate fantastic local producers from across the region, as well as Hix’s own favourite seasonal ingredients.

The first Supper Club will be held on Monday 10 November 2008, and includes a champagne cocktail reception, followed by a four course dinner with wine. Priced at £430 per couple, guests won’t have to worry about driving home, as an overnight stay at Cowley Manor with full English breakfast and use of the C-Side Spa are also included.

Mark Hix is renowned for his passion for sourcing and cooking the best British produce, with the autumn menu featuring highlights including wild rabbit brawn with pea shoots and mustard; a selection of roast seasonal game birds; and whiskey and walnut tart with clotted cream; at the overnight event which promises a social, interactive and entertaining experience with guests sharing tables of eight.

Mark Hix will also be hosting the seasonal Winter Supper Club on Thursday 11 December 2008; the Spring Supper Club on Thursday 5 March 2009; and the Summer Supper Club on Thursday 7 May 2009.

One of the nation’s most celebrated chefs, Mark Hix will be no stranger to self-confessed foodies. A food writer and restaurateur for the past 17 years, as well as winning GQ Chef of the Year in 2008, Hix has also overseen some of London’s favourite restaurants including The Ivy, J Sheekey’s and Scotts, before recently opening his own Hix Oyster and Chop House in London’s Smithfield Market and Hix Oyster and Fish House in Lyme Regis.

Celebrating the very best food of the season and hosted by one of the leading chefs in the country, Cowley Manor’s first Supper Club is set to be a highlight of Gloucestershire gastronomes’ autumn calendar.
