Hen parties flock to The Cotswolds

News – Economising brides-to-be are forgoing foreign hen weekends for celebrations closer to home, with the Cotswolds featuring in the top ten destinations according to a new survey.

While British men are continuing to hop on aeroplanes to enjoy their last days of single life, females are reining in their spending on hen parties and staying in Britain, according to a poll by accommodation website hotels.com – with the Cotswolds featuring in the top ten hen destinations.

The results from the poll of 300 pre-nuptial participants showed that 32 per cent of the grooms-to-be are planning parties overseas. While London came first, Prague, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Tallinn all featured in the top ten desired destinations for stag dos.

A whopping 96 per cent of brides-to-be will celebrating in the UK, however, with only one foreign destination, Barcelona, making it into the top 10 most popular locations for hen parties. London again came in top, with the Cotswolds coming in at number six.

The research also found that 74 per cent of stags say their celebrations will last for a weekend or longer, while 59 per cent of hens say their pre-marital celebrations will only last one day.

Stags too are spending considerably more on the celebration – parting with £179 per person on average for each party they attend, while hens spend a more modest £118.
