Black Tie Charity Ball in Gloucester
Raise funds for Gloucestershire’s blind, and enjoy a glitzy night out at Hatherley Manor in Gloucester, during the Black Tie Charity Ball taking place this spring.
Local charity Gloucestershire County Association for the Blind (GCAB) will be hosting an inaugural charity ball this Saturday 5 February 2011, raising funds to support blind and partially sighted people in the county.
Taking place at Hatherley Manor on the edge of Gloucester, the event will see ball-goers enjoy a complimentary champagne reception, three-course dinner, charity auction and raffle – as well as the chance to have a boogie thanks to the live band and disco.
Proceeds will go to GCAB’s vital provisions such as home visiting and advocacy and information services.
GCAB general manager Steve Martin said: ‘Events such as this are vital in allowing us to carry on the services we provide in order to continue serving the blind and visually impaired of Gloucestershire – made all the more important by the fact that we receive no Government funding’.
The GCAB was established in 1858 with the same aim that it has today: to help and support anyone who is blind or partially sighted in Gloucestershire. It is estimated that over 5,000 people in Gloucestershire alone suffer with a sight problem, and the charity needs to raise around £150,000 a year to carry out its vital services for these residents.
