The Montpellier Chapter opens in Cheltenham

News – Brand new Cheltenham venue The Montpellier Chapter has opened its luxurious doors to hotel guests and restaurant diners today.

The Montpellier Chapter, Cheltenham’s newest hotel and restaurant, officially opened on Monday 29 November 2010, providing a decadent new destination venue to head to in the heart of Montpellier.

A prominent local landmark, the new Montpellier venue is situated in the imposing Grade II listed former home of the Hotel Kandinsky, which closed in October 2008, and has since undergone a complete transformation.

While featuring dramatic new architectural details – including a contemporary crescent-shaped wing and impressive inner courtyard surrounded by coloured glass – the new hotel is said to have retained many of its original Regency and Edwardian details.

Home to 61 bedrooms, luxurious touches for overnight guests include thick carpets and bespoke designer furniture, as well as complimentary mini bars, free WiFi and iPods.

Visitors will also notice an enviable collection of contemporary paintings, photographs, prints and sculptures at the new accommodation venue being run by general manager James Partridge, who previously managed Gordon Ramsay’s York & Albany in London.

The Montpellier Chapter’s restaurant meanwhile, has 74 covers and features an open kitchen serving classic and seasonal British favourites prepared under the watchful eye of head chef Tom Rains, with wine lists displayed on iPads providing a modern detail.
