Ellenborough Park opens in Cheltenham
News - Just in time for Cheltenham Festival and Gold Cup 2011, new hotel and spa Ellenborough Park officially opened its doors for business today.
Having been the talk of the town for the past few months, the wait is finally over as the brand new hotel and spa Ellenborough Park opened today – promising a new luxury Cheltenham hotel which marries history and modernity.
Situated adjacent to the famous Cheltenham Racecourse and nestling the base of Cleeve Hill, more than £15 million has been spent on the restoration of the Grade II listed house – formerly the location of Hotel De La Bere – which now boasts 62 bedrooms including four open-plan and split-level suites.
Ellenborough Park also features a Indian-themed spa with seven treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, fitness centre and outdoor heated swimming pool.
The hotel offers fine dining in The Beaufort, an a la carte restaurant with a menu created by head chef David Kelman – formerly of Lower Slaughter Manor and Wyck Hill House Hotel – drawing upon local ingredients for signature dishes.
Graham Vass, general manager of Ellenborough Park, said: ‘The hotel is packed full of charm, history and a luxurious mix of antique meets modern styling. Our highly trained staff are committed to providing both the best possible service and a welcoming atmosphere for guests to relax and unwind in a beautiful English country house setting.’
The hotel forms part of the Mantis Collection, a South African-based luxury hotel group.
