Cotswolds88 Hotel named hottest in the world

News – Gloucestershire’s very own Cotswolds88 Hotel has been named the hottest in the world by booking website Mr and Mrs Smith.

In a particular coup for the area, Painswick’s Cotswolds88 Hotel has been dubbed the hottest selling boutique hotel in the world by exclusive hotel booking website Mr and Mrs Smith.

The news comes as Mr and Mrs Smith, which acts as an online booking agent for top boutique hotels across the globe, reported it had sold more hotel nights for Cotswolds88 than any other hotel.

Neil Scott, general manager of Cotswolds88’s parent group Ambienza Hotels, is delighted with the achievement: ‘It is fantastic news and a bit hard to take at first. For a start you have to be invited to enter, Mr and Mrs Smith scrutinise each hotel anonymously once a year and their standards are very high.

‘In the entire Cotswolds area, Mr and Mrs Smith only lists 11 hotels including us and only 132 in the whole of the UK, which is some indication of the degree of exclusivity we are talking about. And to think we are outselling all the top hotels in places like London, Paris, New York, Dubai, Tokyo and the rest of the world is just incredible’, he continued.

On the Mr and Mrs Smith website, Cotswolds88 is described as ‘Versace in verdant surrounds… a temple to Italian design. Gloriously over-the-top touches such as PVC-backed chairs and chrome mannequins vie for attention with the hotel’s own Palladian backdrop, and the result is a space with its own cheeky sense of humour.’

Cotswolds88’s recent achievement will be added to a string of accolades collated over the last five years, including Two AA Rosettes for its restaurant and a Four Star rating for its overall performance – said to be the highest possible on a first visit.
