The dinosaurs exhibitions is great. My youngest and I are big fans of the series so it was nice to see the models up close...

Fresh Air 09 exhibition

Event ended

Until 4 July – Combining stunning sculptures with the great outdoors, Fresh Air 09 provides a unique opportunity to appreciate alfresco art at its very best in Quenington Old Rectory’s gardens, in the heart of the Cotswolds.

The Fresh Air 09 exhibition is a unique biennial art event, featuring the work of more than 90 artists, which even the British weather can’t dampen.

From the traditional to the cutting edge, an eclectic array of sculptures will be on display in the stunning Cotswold surrounds of Quenington Old Rectory’s five acres of gardens and grounds, near Fairford, from Sunday 14 June to Saturday 4 July 2009.

And, we aren’t talking garden gnomes – the impressive collection of sculptures are made from a variety of materials including bronze, resin, metal, ceramics, glass, stone, wood, willow and cloth, and are created by an eclectic mix of emerging and established local, national and international artists.

In 2009, expect to see students from Gloucestershire University showing their graduation pieces; Bridget McCrum’s fine bronzes; Angela Thwaites’ translucent vegetal forms; and the jeweller Wendy Ramshaw’s design for a gate, on show. There will also be conceptual work from the Indian artist Ashish Ghosh; Australia will be represented by Nicholas Ulhmann and Greg Johns; and also contemplative work from Japanese sculptor Takeshi Nagasaki.

Organisers of the forthcoming Fresh Air 09 exhibition say: ‘The aim is to give pleasure, create new ideas and show the rich diversity of contemporary art on offer rarely found in a single location.’ It’s a mission which attracted more than 7,500 visitors in 2007, and predictably even more this summer.

What’s more, as well as taking a leisurely stroll in the fresh air, casual browsers and serious collectors alike will be able to purchase any of the sculptures on show. With prices fetching anywhere from £50 to £35,000, there is something to suit the pocket of every art and garden lover.
