Fresh Air 2011 sculpture exhibition
Combining stunning sculptures with the great outdoors, Fresh Air 2011 provides a unique opportunity to appreciate alfresco art at its very best in the heart of the Cotswolds.
The Fresh Air exhibition is a unique biennial art event described as one of the UK’s leading contemporary sculpture shows, which even the British weather can’t dampen, being held in Gloucestershire from Sunday 19 June to Sunday 10 July 2011.
Featuring more than 200 works by more than 100 artists, from the traditional to the cutting edge, an eclectic array of sculptures will be on display in the stunning Cotswold surrounds of Quenington Old Rectory’s five acres of gardens and grounds, near Cirencester.
And, we aren’t talking garden gnomes – the impressive collection of sculptures are made from a variety of materials including bronze, glass, stainless steel, stone, ceramic, marble, wood, fabric, plastic and resin, as well as multi-media installations.
In 2011, expect to see huge pots to withstand the climate, textiles invented not to fade, surprising metal work and worked glass which changes according to the time, light and weather. Inspired by the beauty of the Cotswold garden, there are also six artists making site-specific installations in trees, flower beds and the river at this 10th biennial Fresh Air.
Plus, don’t miss the wacky white plastic bag flowers of Claudia Borgna, Taz Lovejoy’s red, white and blue resin bananas, beautiful lettering from Gary Breeze and great coloured banners courtesy of Shona Watt, not to mention the grand ceramics of Svend Bayer, Wendy Hoare and Andrew Flint.
Created by an eclectic mix of emerging and established local, national and international artists, prices range from £100 to £15,000 with one or two more expensive pieces fetching up to £35,000 – with all exhibits available to buy or simply browse and enjoy.
