Love will truly be in the air in Gloucester on Saturday 28 July, when a packed line-up of live entertainment entitled The Things We Do For Love will be held at the city centre’s New Olympus Theatre.

Organised by The Gloucester Art Trail Organisation, for the paltry ticket price of £6, or £5 if you book in advance, the variety show will include drama from Gloucester Operatic and Dramatic Society (G.O.D.S.), an impressive performance from Gloucester Dance Studio, poetry from the New Grey Whistle Test’s Miki Byrne, as well as musical renditions from singer-songwriter Karen Swan.

Local artist Richard Straley will be parading as Dutch painter Van Gogh, poet Richard Capener will be letting us hear some of his original work, and modern dance group Fusion will be travelling from London to wow the local crowds. Ces Brown will be on percussion, while Gloucester Academy of Music’s string quartet will add the classical elements, plus special guest, Gloucestershire 1000’s poet-laureate Peter Wyton, will be delivering some of his popular poetry – all with love, in its many forms, as a central theme.

And, as if that’s not enough entertainment for one evening, there will also be a visual art show on display at the theatre and, of course, the bar will be open during the interval. Plus, all proceeds will go towards funding future Gloucester Art Trail events – so you’re not just indulging in an evening of amorous amusement, but you’ll be supporting a fantastic local art initiative too.
