Open Air Theatre Festival

Until 1 August – Cheltenham’s ever-popular Open Air Theatre Festival may have been moved indoors, but there is still plenty to keep you entertained, and dry.

The Tuckwell Amphitheatre, due to play host to the Open Air Theatre Festival 2007, was submerged under feet of water. But not wanting to disappoint the crowds, organisers have made the bold move of moving the festivities inside into the nearby Bacon Theatre.

The third and final ‘cinema under the stars’ screening sees Hideous Kinky come alive on the silver screen. Based on Esther Freud’s best-selling novel, the film set in 1960s Morocco stars Kate Winslet. Tickets cost £5.

Wednesday 1 August 2007

The last day of the festival sees Peter Gill and Friends performing ‘Jazz on a Summer’s Evening’, followed by a finale firework display to bring 2007’s Open Air Theatre Festival to a colourful close. Tickets for the jazz event cost £13, while tickets for the fireworks finale have sold out.
