J.B. Priestley’s classic 1930s drama Dangerous Corner might not be one of the celebrated writer’s best known plays, but it will be performed by on the Everyman’s stage by four faces that you will be very familiar with, this September.

Shirley Anne Field, the star of 1960s movie classics including Alfie and Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, as well as more contemporary roles, takes the lead as Miss Mockridge in Dangerous Corner, alongside soap stars Peter Amory, Tony O’Callaghan and Chloe Newsome.

The play is packed with suspense and intrigue, as the audience sees Robert Caplan and his wife entertaining her brother and sister-in-law. As the evening develops Robert insists on uncovering the truth about his brother’s ‘suicide’, and a series of unpalatable revelations ensue.

Family skeletons fly out of the closet at a lightning speed and Robert discovers more than he is comfortable with – not to mention that his brother is an obscene lunatic, his business partners are perverts and thieves, and the girl he used to put on a pedestal is nothing but a cheap tart.

But as Robert reaches breaking point, a twist in time occurs allowing the characters to bypass the dangerous corner at which the truth was first demanded.

The elegant production, under Ian Dickens’ capable direction, has already been well received on the tour sweeping the UK and promises a riveting night out for Gloucestershire’s theatregoers.
