Dean Forest Railway Halloween Ghost Trains

1 November – The Dean Forest Railway will be hosting a Halloween treat full of tricks for brave families across Gloucestershire once again this year, as three ghost trains depart for a night-time trip to remember.

Get kitted-out in your most blood-curdling costume and climb aboard the ghost trains.

Once again there will be some spooky goings on at the Dean Forest Railway this Halloween, with a trio of ghost trains departing from Norchard station in 2008.

Passengers can expect to trundle past a witch’s coven, vampires slumbering in their coffins, a grisly graveyard, skulls and skeletons; ghosts and ghouls are expected to appear on the train; with a fire performer taking their place on the platform during the unique night time trip to mark the scary annual celebration.

Passengers kitted-out in their scariest outfits will be entered into the fancy dress competition. The most ghoulish grown-up and chilling child will both win prizes, when the competition is judged at 7.15pm.

The organisers advise all passengers to wrap-up warm, as the train coaches can get chilly, and bring a torch – as they don’t want the unlit journey from the free car park to the station to be a scary one before you arrive.

Toffee apples and hot snacks will be served, plus all children will receive a ghoulie bag filled with treats to take home. This is one of the Dean Forest Railway’s most popular events of the year, so book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Whether the kids will love it or you’re a child at heart, jump aboard a ghost train, if you’re feeling brave enough, for a Halloween with a difference in 2008 – plus it might save you a bob or two if you’re out when the trick or treaters come knocking.
