Dad’s Army The Lost Episodes
19 to 24 November – The Everyman’s stage will be barricaded by a cast of unlikely Home Guard veterans this month, as Dad’s Army The Lost Episodes comes to Cheltenham.
One of the most popular British comedies of all time, Dad’s Army has been transported to the stage for a national tour this autumn – and ‘don’t panic’ Gloucestershire audiences can get their slice of the action, when the production calls at Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre from Monday 19 November.
A fun-filled treat for the whole family the play-version of the popular BBC TV series, which ran for ten years after being first screened in 1968, promises the same brand of comedy that captured the hearts of millions of viewers with its gentle, timeless humour and bulldog spirit.
Lovingly recreated for the stage, this lavish new production features a star-studded cast, including Leslie Grantham (Eastenders Dirty Den) and Peter Martin (Emmerdale Farm and The Royle Family) – breathing new life into the misadventures of the Home Guard platoon in their fictional South Coast town of Walmington-on-Sea.
Not seen since 1969, The Lost Episodes production is a unique opportunity to see the episodes after the originals were inadvertently erased by the BBC. So unless you saw them back in 1969 now’s your chance, as this is one gentle collection of stories that you won’t find repeated on television or anywhere else.
