Candlelit carol singing and Christmas crafts will be enjoyed by all ages at Woodchester Mansion this weekend, when the historic building opens its doors to the public for the last time in 2007.

While children will be queuing up to tell Santa what’s on their wish lists and making handcrafted Christmas cards, the grown-ups will be treated to a menu of mince pies and hot punch, alongside the festive carols.

If you have never visited Woodchester Mansion before, make your way to Nympsfield and look for the signs to find the architectural masterpiece hidden amongst 400-acres of parkland. Tours of the ground floor of the Gothic mansion are included in the admission price, and if you wrap-up warm there is also the chance to take a walk through the woodland and its five man-made lakes.

As Woodchester Mansion will not be holding any more open days for members of the public until Tuesday 1 January 2008, the Christmas celebrations offer the perfect excuse for a visit – complete with mince pies.
