Treefest at Westonbirt Arboretum

Saturday 25 to Monday 27 August 2012

Back by popular demand, Westonbirt Arboretum is hosting its second annual Treefest in 2012, celebrating trees with three days of live music, camping and family fun.

Nature gets a four-day celebration at Westonbirt Arboretum's new Treefest, this summer.
Nature gets a four-day celebration at Westonbirt Arboretum's new Treefest, this summer.

Building on the success of last summer’s first ever Treefest, Westonbirt Arboretum will be pulling out all the stops to make this summer’s three-day signature event even more special from Saturday 25 to Monday 27 August 2012.

Once again visitors to Westonbirt will be able to get involved in a series of woodcraft displays, hands-on workshops, stalls and activities for families during the special festival, and they will also be able to watch master carvers transform wood into intricate play pieces.

The event will also include local live acoustic and folk music each evening, alongside storytelling and poetry, organised by the 4014 Project. There’s also a Medieval re-enactment, shire horses, puppet shows and falconry displays, not to mention morris dancing and a chance to try longbow and archery.

Crafts, furniture and jewellery stalls from more than 100 exhibitors will also fill the stunning site, with trails, tree team demonstrations and workshops from some of the country’s best craftspeople also on offer to festival-goers.

While the rare opportunity to camp within the grounds of the beautiful National Arboretum is sure to be a popular pull, the chance to kip in a tipi or yurt is sure to catch campers’ attention.

And, what’s more, there is free admission for children under 18 – what a jam-packed way to spend the bank holiday weekend as a family.
