Snowshill Manor Secrets Explorer Tour
Get up close and personal with some of the treasures held at National Trust property Snowshill Manor and Gardens, during a Secrets Explorer Tour.
While Snowshill Manor and its stunning gardens prove a popular attraction with visitors from across Gloucestershire and far beyond, the Secrets Explorer Tour provides the rare chance to get an expert insight into the treasures held at the property – before members of the public arrive for the day.
The Cotswold manor house plays home to a phenomenal 22,000 or so objects, all collected and arranged in 22 rooms by the architect and craftsman Charles Wade, ranging from tiny toys to splendid suits of armour.
‘Many of the things bought by Mr Wade are best appreciated at close quarters’, said in-house expert Jennifer Rowley, who leads the special tours. ‘We’ve found that these tours are really popular because people love to see cabinets unlocked and boxes opened. This year I’ll be showing people mysterious African masks, oriental and Spanish furniture, hidden niches, secret stairs and a closer look at areas normally roped off to visitors’.
For culture vultures living in and visiting the county, don’t miss out on the chance to take full advantage of one of Gloucestershire’s most intriguing attractions.
