While seasoned visitors are sure to enjoy Gloucester Cathedral’s 2009 planned series of events, newcomers from across Gloucestershire should also be on the lookout for this year’s organ recital series – when the majestic instrument will be put through its paces courtesy of some of the UK’s most highly regarded organists.

No less than six evening concerts will feature Gloucester Cathedral’s own musicians and invited guests, including recitalist Nicolas Kynaston in association with Cheltenham Music Festival, while there will also be three free bank holiday Monday recitals, giving music-lovers the chance to see performers in close-up via a large screen projection to the Nave.

Performers involved include Stephen Cleobury of King’s College Cambridge; Adrian Partington of Gloucester Cathedral; Anthony Gowing of Sheffield Cathedral; Daniel Hyde of Magdalen College Oxford; Roger Judd formerly of St George’s Chapel Windsor; Ralf Blasi of Gloucester Cathedral; and Ashley Grote, also of Gloucester Cathedral.
