Green Man awarded to Highnam Court Visitor

News – An expertly carved Green Man has been awarded to one lucky Oxfordshire resident, as Theresa Hovard wins first prize in the Highnam Court Spring Fair Grand Draw.

A highlight on the Gloucestershire events calendar, the Highnam Court Spring Fair 2009 attracted nearly 5,000 visitors over the weekend of Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April 2009 – with fairgoers flocking from far and wide to join in on the action.

Raising money for both Gloucester Cathedral and The Pied Piper Appeal, this year’s event was the fifth of its kind and included a new addition in the form of the inaugural Gloucestershire Stone Carving Festival, giving visitors the chance to see expert stone masons at work on a range of stunning sculptures.

While most of the works were auctioned off to raise funds for the nominated charities, one very special piece – a Green Man carved by Pascal Mychalysin, master mason at Gloucester Cathedral – was given as first prize in the Grand Draw, and the above picture shows Highnam Court owner Roger Head awarding Theresa Hovard from Oxfordshire with the coveted prize.

Lookout for news of next year’s event, nab yourself a Grand Draw ticket and you too could be winning first prize while raising money for two worthwhile charities at the same time.
