The dinosaurs exhibitions is great. My youngest and I are big fans of the series so it was nice to see the models up close...

Forest and Valley Open Studios 2009

Event ended

2 August – Art lovers from across Gloucestershire and far beyond will be flocking to the Forest of Dean this summer, as the annual Forest and Valley Open Studios 2009 event gets underway.

Having taken place for more than a decade, the Forest and Valley Open Studios has become a firm fixture on Gloucestershire’s arts and crafts calendar, and the 2009 event is set to be no exception.

Taking place from Saturday 4 July to Sunday 2 August 2009, a wealth of talented artists and makers will be opening their studios on selected dates, providing the chance for members of the public to discover an amazing array of creative talent on their doorsteps.

Organisers say all of the artists involved – there are around 35 in all – have been busy creating new works for the event, and are looking forward to welcoming visitors into their studios.

SoGlos.com’s highlights include Sarah King’s stunning oil paintings of the Forest of Dean (studio located at Bambi House, Parkhill, Whitecroft, Lydney, GL15 4PQ); Graham Wilde’s eclectic oil works on canvas and woodblock prints (studio located at Severn View House, Church Lane, Alvington, near Lydney, GL15 6BH); and Kevin Noel Armitage’s mixed medium pieces showing his love of nature (studio located at 2 Courtfield Cottages, Townsend, Mitcheldean, near Lydney, GL17 0BE).

All of the artists involved will be opening their studios for set dates and times only during the event, and full information can be obtained by contacting organisers on (01594) 530324. Visitors should also lookout for the red pennant flags flying outside studios which are involved in the event.

Promising a feast of arts and crafts and the chance to get a behind the scenes look at artists and makers at work, the month-long Forest Valley Open Studios 2009 is a truly unmissable event.
