Adam Morrigan exhibition in Dursley

Controversial roadkill artist Adam Morrigan’s latest Gloucestershire art exhibition Holy Cow will be on show in Dursley, as part of the On View project.

Best known for his headline-grabbing roadkill art, Gloucestershire artist Adam Morrigan’s controversial work will once again be grabbing attention, when Holy Cow goes on display in Dursley.

Opening on Saturday 31 October 2009, and running throughout November 2009, the trio of Adam Morrigan’s pieces will be on show at 45 Parsonage Street, as part of the Dursley’s On View – a dynamic project to turn vacant shop windows into temporary art galleries.

Art lovers and passers by alike will be able to see Holy Cow, C’est le Veal and Avec le Trou on show in this latest exhibition, aimed at exploring the relationship of society to material.

Avec le Trou, made from the skin of a day old calf, intends to give us a glimpse into the cost of milk production and the inherent beauty of the animal.

C’est le Veal continues that journey, with Morrigan saying that the ‘holes offer glimpses of sunlight through the walls of the animal’s darkened crate, before its ultimate journey.’

With Holy Cow, the last in the trilogy, offering a glimpse of the end game, ‘when the animal has reached the ultimate destination of its physical journey to fulfil our needs.’

Organisers say that Morrigan has ‘wowed art critics by overcoming the initial shock value of his work to gain credibility as a selling artist, despite the economic down turn.’

The free exhibition offers the chance for all Dursley residents and visitors with the chance to see Adam Morrigan’s work in the flesh.
