Free National Trust days out in Gloucestershire
The National Trust will be giving all ages a gratis day out, when four of its Gloucestershire attractions open their doors for free this weekend.
National Trust day-tripping visitors in Gloucestershire have a lot to look forward to on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March 2010, when four of the county’s most popular attractions will be open free of charge.
Designed to get the British public out and about, Fiona Reynolds, Director-General of the National Trust, said: ‘Our free weekend is the perfect chance to escape the stresses of our busy lives and get outdoors and breathe in some free springtime fresh air or take inspiration from the beauty of any of our special places.’
Freshly opened for the spring season, Snowshill Manor in the Cotswolds will be offering day-trippers with the chance to see some of Charles Paget Wade’s astounding treasure trove of more than 22,000 objects on a free visit to the manor house.
There’s the opportunity for families to see the remains of one of the largest Roman villas in the country at Chedworth Roman Villa in Yamworth near Cheltenham.
Horticulturists will be heading to Hidcote Manor Garden near Chipping Camden for a chance to see the internationally-renowned garden’s magnificent magnolias in bloom.
While Britain’s only restored Dutch water garden, Westbury Court Gardens will also be free for garden-lovers to visit the attraction situated on the banks of the Severn.
