Making a Splash at The Dollar Street Gallery
Alan Brassington’s watery works are to be exhibited at Cirencester’s The Dollar Street Gallery, this summer.
Alan Brassington’s latest exhibition Making a Splash will be doing just that at The Dollar Street Gallery in Cirencester.
The exhibition is set to run throughout the summer, and is comprised of a portfolio of around 40 watercolours and drawings of Cirencester’s open-air swimming pool.
The illustrations depict the changing daily activity around the poolside in 1996, from the morning serenity of early-bird swimmers to the excitable hyperactivity of crowds of children, all diving and splashing about.
Brassington’s work has been recognised at an international level and as artist-in-residence at the Royal Ascot Racing Club, he has become especially known for his oil paintings of racehorses.
The artist himself said: ‘This series of work is very close to my heart… although I have exhibitions of my work in London and New York I felt that Cirencester was the right place to hold this show. One of my passions is studying life and this series of figurative work is very different from my normal work’.
His poolside pieces will be available to purchase at the Cirencester gallery, with prices starting from £150 and there will also be a smaller collection of signed illustrated posters available.
Please note, the dates listed here apply to the opening fortnight of this exhibition only. Full dates for this exhibition are Thursday 27 May 2010 to late summer 2010.
