New winter pricing at Westonbirt Arboretum
News – Westonbirt Arboretum is giving visitors the chance to enjoy the Forestry Commission attraction for less this winter, thanks to new seasonal admission prices.
Family favourite Cotswolds attraction Westonbirt Arboretum is giving visitors all the more reason to head to the Tetbury venue in the New Year, thanks to a new winter pricing structure.
Running from Monday 2 January to Wednesday 29 February 2012, visitors will be able to gain entry to The National Arboretum for just £5 for adults, £4 for concessions and £2 for children.
Westonbirt has 17 miles of paths to explore, and winter visitors can follow two seasonal trails that take in the magic of the trees. The trails around the Old Arboretum and Silk Wood also offer accessible paths, and wheelchairs or mobility scooters can be booked in advance free of charge.
Ben Oliver, Westonbirt’s learning and interpretation manager, commented: ‘Winter is the season when the arboretum’s evergreen trees and colourful barks really get to show off.
‘The original Victorian planting style at the arboretum used these shapes and colours to provide visual cheer when the deciduous trees had lost their leaves.’
Organisers say the winter colours and contours of dark green conifers and vibrant red dogwoods are the result of the picturesque planting style initiated by Victorian creator Robert Holford – continued today by the Forestry Commission’s tree team who care for the collection.
