Went along to Rise Helicopters on Saturday for the £20 ride. It was excellent and couldn't believe how cheap it was!...

The Old Spot Inn scoops Pub of the Year
The Old Spot Inn pub in Dursley has won the prestigious title of CAMRA South West Pub of the Year in this year’s competition.
Every year experts from the Campaign for Real Ale have the enviable job of scouring pubs across the South West, looking for a drinking hole which stands out above all others – and this year Gloucestershire’s own The Old Spot Inn in Dursley has scooped the title of CAMRA South West Pub of the Year.
The Old Spot Inn was built as a farm cottage in 1776 and became a pub around 100 years ago – gaining its name from the famous Gloucestershire Old Spot pig. Landlord Steve Herbert describes it as ‘a pub of a thousand locals’, and many real ale fans make the pilgrimage to Dursley specifically to sample the fine local brews.
It’s also a popular stop-off for walkers along the Cotswold Way, taking advantage of the traditional pub’s intimate atmosphere, log fires and brewery memorabilia covering the walls. As well as Uley Brewery’s Old Ric, The Old Spot Inn usually has at least eight real ales available – mainly from micro breweries – which are served in no less than five separate drinking areas.
A spokesperson from the Gloucestershire CAMRA branch commented: ‘When we selected the Old Spot as our Pub of the Year, we realised that we had a pub with the potential to proceed to regional level, especially as last year it was just pipped to the same award by the current National CAMRA Pub of the Year. With a superb range of at least eight real ales, kept in excellent condition the Old Spot thoroughly deserves its award and we are confident that it will represent our region well in the next stages of national competition.’
SoGlos.com for one will be wishing The Old Spot Inn all the best of luck for the national competition.
The Old Spot Inn is open from 11am to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and from 12pm to 11pm on Sundays. Call The Old Spot Inn on (01453) 542870 for more information.
