Having spotted a niche in the market for a decent steakhouse, The Parrot Bar on North Place in Cheltenham set out to fulfil steak lovers’ appetites – and after many month’s work relaunched with a new menu and refurbished interior in January 2011.

Now dubbed The Parrot Bar and Grill, the revamped venue has also been integrated into an established Gloucester group of eating and drinking haunts which include Cafe Rene, Tigers Eye and The Old Bell – drawing upon its management and service experience.

Cafe Rene’s head chef has also devised The Parrot Bar and Grill’s mouth-watering menu, with every prime cut of steak being available from rump, fillet and T-bone, together with some available on- or off-the-bone such as the porterhouse sirloin or tomahawk rib-eye. Guest steaks to lookout for include the Texas Longhorn, coveted Kobe beef and ostrich to follow.

Other highlights include the baby back pork ribs, cured in-house by the Parrot chef’s own smokery, with a daily special menu and traditional Sunday lunch menu also being available. Plus, all meat are sourced from Martins Meats of Cheltenham using either Angus or Cotswold cuts.

What’s more, having undergone an extensive refurbishment The Parrot Bar and Grill now includes a stylish new dining area and specialist cocktail bar including 30 vodkas and selection of rare spirits, plus bottled beers from across the globe.

Far surpassing even the most optimistic of expectations, The Parrot Bar and Grill has reported a superb first month. ‘It’s been an amazing success and there’s been a real buzz about the place. Feedback from customers has been that they’ve really enjoyed it, and have been particularly impressed with the quality of the steaks on offer,’ a spokesperson commented.
