Coleford Festival of Words

An exploration and celebration of words is taking place in the Forest of Dean once again this summer, for the Coleford Festival of Words 2010.

Guest speakers, local authors, interactive workshops, live performances, community events, poetry and storytelling will all feature in the Coleford Festival of Words, taking place in the Forest of Dean from Monday 9 to Saturday 14 August 2010.

More than 500 people from the Forest of Dean and beyond took part in last summer’s Festival, with even more expected to enjoy the literary festivities this year.

Monday 9 August 2010

Hilarious poet John Hegley will be bringing his Beyond Our Kennel to Coleford Baptist Church at 8pm. Tickets cost £6.

Tuesday 10 August 2010

Chris Amery will be hosting The Iliad: A Dramatic Presentation at 6pm at The Angel Hotel. Tickets cost £3.

Wednesday 11 August 2010

Folk-rock singer and songwriter Johnny Coppin will be joining Paul Burgess for a live performance at 8pm at Coleford Baptist Church. Tickets cost £7.

Thursday 12 August 2010

Doug McLean will be debating ‘Is the Book Dead?’ in light of the digital downloadable book, followed by Book Club Rally with Julia Gregson at 6.30 pm at Coleford Baptist Church. Tickets for both events cost £3.

Friday 13 August 2010

Prize-winning author of plays, novels and short stories, David Pownall will be reading work inspired by the time he spent in Africa at 6pm at The Forest Bookshop. Tickets cost £3.

Saturday 14 August 2010

Shoo Rayner will be launching his new Monster Boy series of childrens’ books, which take place in a very familiar forest, with this free family event at 11 am at The Forest Bookshop.
