Up to 5,000 sun- and fun-seeking revellers are expected to flock to Montpellier Gardens on Saturday 6 July 2013, when Cheltenham’s biggest free festival returns for another year running.
Live music, dance performances, a marketplace, children’s village, plenty of food and drink and much, much more promises an action-packed, fun-filled day for Cheltenham locals of all ages on this summer’s afternoon.
Situated a stone’s throw away from the town centre, the iconic park sprawls over 600 hectares, making it one of the largest in the country, and the event itself is sponsored by Cheltenham Borough Homes, Eagle Tower and the Chamber of Commerce.
An array of local bands, artists and choirs will be gracing the new Airstream Bullet stage, while twinkle-toed fiesta-goers can enjoy dance displays and participate in have-a-go workshops covering salsa, Zumba and tango.
Meanwhile, those with bundles of energy to burn off can do so in demonstrations and activities spanning martial arts, fencing, an O2 Rugby Village and football training with Cheltenham Town FC coaches.
Kids will have a whale of a time bouncing on inflatables, whizzing round on fairground rides, getting up-close-and-personal with their furry friends in the petting zoo and climbing aboard the fire engine and police car.
Plus, there’s face painting, go-karting, a circus skills workshop, skateboarding and scooter session also to look forward to.
And if that’s not enough to keep the family occupied on a sunny Saturday afternoon, there will also be around 100 market stalls selling everything from arts and crafts to beauty treatments and toys, in addition to a classic and vintage car display that’s expected to be particularly popular with dads on the day.
So round up your friends and family, pack a picnic and head down to Montpellier Gardens to soak up the sights and sounds of this unmissable – and free – annual Cheltenham highlight.
