Gloucestershire fireworks and bonfires guide

Gloucestershire fireworks displays and bonfires will be lighting up the county’s skies in October and November 2016. Find out where all the action is taking place in Cheltenham, the Cotswolds, the Forest of Dean, Gloucester, Stroud and Tewkesbury.

Cheltenham Racecourse fireworks display

Venue: Cheltenham Racecourse
Perfect for: Happy families to enjoy a night of spectacular entertainment at Gloucestershire’s biggest fireworks event, hosted by Cheltenham Round Table and with proceeds going to support Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
What's happening: Recognised as the largest display in the south west, visitors can expect a fantastic fireworks show, alongside fairground attractions; music from samba drummers; hot and cold food; drinks; and children's entertainment. Meanwhile, a surprise visit from children's television heroes are sure to delight little ones, with Leonardo and Raphael from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles scheduled to make an appearance.
SoGlos loves: Now in its 30th year, the Cheltenham Round Table fireworks display will primarily raise funds for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, which is celebrating its Air25 25th anniversary, along with supporting a number of other local charities and worthwhile causes.
How much: Tickets cost £6 on the door for adults, and £4 for children, while family tickets purchased in advance cost £15 for two adults and two children, with advance tickets available via eventbrite.co.uk.

Venue: Cheltenham Area Civil Sports Club, Tewkesbury Road, Cheltenham
What’s happening: The 2016 CACSSA fireworks display will be hosted once again in Cheltenham.

What’s happening: Families from Charlton Kings can enjoy the annual fireworks display and bonfire at St Edward’s Preparatory School this autumn.

Fairview Fireworks Party in Cheltenham

Venue: Cheltenham Cricket Club
What’s happening: With two displays – one without bangs for kiddies followed by a main display – the family-friendly event it set to light up Cheltenham Cricket Club for another year, with fairground stalls; music; food; and more.

Cirencester fireworks display

Venue: Victoria Road Field, Cirencester
What’s happening: A highlight on the town’s annual calendar, Cirencester Round Table’s fantastic fireworks display is set to draw crowds in their thousands, with a dazzling display and host of exciting activities promising a fun family event.

Tetbury fireworks display and bonfire

Venue: Sir William Romney’s School, Lowfield Road, Tetbury, GL8 8AE
What’s happening: The Rotary Club of the South Cotswolds is set to host Tetbury’s popular annual event for another year, with a bonfire and brilliant fireworks display set to wow local families.

Fireworks evening at Hillside Brewery

Venue: Hillside Brewery
What's happening: The skies over the Forest of Dean will be lit up with a fantastic fireworks display, while visitors stay toasty and warm next to a blazing bonfire. What’s more, to prevent any rumbling stomachs, there will be plenty of delicious locally-sourced food, and – for the older visitors – Hillside Brewery’s famous beer.

FERN bonfire in Coleford

Venue: The Speech House Hotel
What’s happening: Families can warm up by the huge bonfire and marvel at the fireworks display in Coleford, with tasty food, a fun fair and more, promising a fun night out raising funds for worthy local causes.

What’s happening: The Bathurst Park and Recreation Trust charity will be once again be putting on a fantastic 20-minute fireworks display in Lydney.

Venue: Gloucester Docks
What’s happening: A laser light show and spectacular fireworks display is sure to delight local families heading for Gloucester Docks this autumn.

Five Valleys fireworks display

Venue: Marling School, Caincross Road, Stroud, GL5 4HE
What’s happening: Expect another huge and impressive fireworks display on the Marling School playing fields at this family friendly event– with a fun fair, arts activities, and plenty of warming refreshments.

Venue: Bisley Recreation Grounds, Vanderbreen Street, Bisley
What’s happening: A burning bonfire, spectacular fireworks display, delicious food, warming mulled wine, and glow-in-the-dark toys are all on the exciting agenda for Bisley’s annual Bonfire Night event, organised by Bisley Blue Coat School PTA.

Dursley fireworks display

Venue: War Memorial Recreational Ground, Dursley
What’s happening: Aside from a brilliant fireworks display, families visiting Dursley can look forward to live music entertainment from Rednock Swing Band, a barbecue, a beer tent, hot drinks, glow stall, and more, with the fireworks set to commence at 6pm.
