Expected to attracted families from near and far, Cheltenham Racecourse will be welcoming the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay with some show-stopping entertainment, at its free Evening Celebration on Wednesday 23 May 2012.
Described as a once-in-a-lifetime event, the gates at Cheltenham Racecourse open at 3pm, with entertainment from Create Gloucestershire scheduled until 4.15pm, alongside an afternoon of interactive sports courtesy of Active Gloucestershire.
From 5pm to 7.30pm, there will be the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games’ official celebration show on the main stage.
The show will feature special guest Labrinth, who is expected to perform his chart hits including ‘Let the Sun Shine’ and ‘Earthquake’, with performances from Got To Dance winners Chris & Wes and Twist & Pulse, who were runners up in Britain's Got Talent.
Plus, live performances from Gloucestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra, Cheltenham Youth Choir, Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum and Johnny Coppin will also be on the bill.
The final torchbearer at the Racecourse will be Zara Phillips, riding her horse Toytown and a memorable highlight of this unique event will be the arrival of the Olympic Torch at Cheltenham Racecourse, when the Olympic cauldron will be lit on stage at 7pm.
And, last but not least, food and drink will be available until the bars close at 9pm, with the entertainment continuing until 9.15pm.
Organisers say the free event requires no ticket or booking of any kind, with free parking also available. Don’t miss the chance to take part in this exciting event and bit of British history in the making.
