If you’re stuck for somewhere to take the family to celebrate the upcoming Jubilee in the great outdoors, head on down to the picturesque Imperial Gardens, where Cheltenham Town Hall, Fosters Event Catering and Cheltenham Borough Council will be hosting a Charity Summer Garden Party – with a hefty donation being made to local charity LINC.
In honour of our Queen’s 60-year reign and to commemorate the opening of Skillicorne Gardens, the celebrations will begin at 11.30am on Saturday 2 June 2012, followed by an official opening by deputy mayor Colin Hay.
Organisers said: ‘The Skillicorne Gardens are a memorial to Captain Henry Skillicorne, a retired naval captain and adventurer who established Cheltenham’s first spa and actively promoted the healing properties of the spring water. This previously hidden, secret, walled garden has been closed to the public for more than 10 years but Cheltenham Town Hall has now reclaimed this beautiful space.’
Partygoers will be hoping to impress in their finest fancy dress, and to add to the jubilant festival atmosphere, live music and free face painting will also form part of the afternoon.
What’s more, Fosters Event Catering will be encouraging revellers to sample from its specially built Pimms tent, as well as offering an array of delectable delights hot off the barbecue – including Leckhampton Old Spot sausages and Smiths Farm beef burgers.
Or, for those who prefer a lighter lunch, there will be the opportunity to pre-order and hire a range of luxurious wicker hampers – complete with picnic blanket – filled with tempting British treats such as cream teas, duck egg scotch eggs and even Eton mess.
Stani Forgacova, event manager for Fosters, added: ‘We really wanted to give the people of Cheltenham an opportunity to dine like royalty in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with fine food and drink the order of the day. And, because it’s in aid of charity, there’s plenty to smile about.’
