Have you ever wondered why the Romans never won MasterChef? What would happen if a Viking moved in next door? Would you lose your heart or head to horrible Henry?
These are just some of life’s burning questions that the Birmingham Stage Company aims to answer when it presents its latest Horrible Histories show, Barmy Britain, to an audience at Gloucester Quays outlet centre.
On Monday 27 August 2012, to launch the inaugural Gloucester History Festival, organisers will be inviting local families to pack up a picnic, set up their camping chairs and settle in for an alfresco performance of the favourite children’s show, following the sell-out success of recent runs in London’s West End and at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The Times praised the show and said: ‘Is this any way for children to learn about history? Too right it is! If lessons were always like this, kids would be queuing up at the school gates every morning. Be thrilled!’
Set in loathsome London, the Birmingham Stage Company will be introducing local little ones to some of the greatest characters this country has ever seen, taking them on an hour-long musical journey through invasions, executions, diseases and affairs of the night.
Don’t miss this history lesson with a difference – with all the nasty bits left in!
