The dinosaurs exhibitions is great. My youngest and I are big fans of the series so it was nice to see the models up close...

Gloucester Tall Ships Festival

Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 May 2011

With the Gloucester Tall Ships Festival 2010 cancelled, the 2011 event at Gloucester Docks promises to be a bigger and better day out for the whole family, with visitors flocking from across Gloucestershire for the third instalment.

The magnificent Phoenix and the other tall ships were at the inaugural festival at Gloucester Docks.

Following the success of the previous Tall Ships events held in 2007 and 2009, and after the Gloucester Tall Ships Festival 2010 was cancelled due to building work at Gloucester Docks, the ships will be setting sail for the Docks for the third time in 2011.

Only 100 years ago a visit to Gloucester Docks would have seen dozens of tall ships going about their daily business, with crews making preparations before setting off on voyages and adventures to exotic climes. The spring of 2011 will see the same location – now one of Gloucester’s most popular attractions – transformed to give visitors from across Gloucestershire and beyond a taste of the sights and sounds of the docks as it once was.

While the host of 2011 festival activities were still being confirmed, if previous years are anything to go by expect magnificent ships arriving at Gloucester Docks, the chance to clamber aboard during guided tours, live entertainment, workshops, a banquet and much more.
