The Ugly Duckling at WWT Slimbridge
15 December – The Ugly Duckling will be waddling onto WWT Slimbridge’s stage for a classic Christmas treat for young children.
There is hardly a more apt location to stage The Ugly Duckling than at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Slimbridge, where young children from across Gloucestershire will be able to see the heart-warming fairytale performed for one afternoon only.
The heart-warming adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s timeless story of a big brown duckling, who is told he is too ugly and different to stay at the farmyard, will be performed by the Stroud-based Red Dog Theatre company on Saturday 15 December 2007.
Jude Emmett, who wrote the adaptation of The Ugly Duckling for Red Dog Theatre, said: ‘This is a magical story brought to life and an ideal introduction to live theatre for children aged three to six.’
Plus, once the nippers have seen the fluffy duckling grow into a beautiful swan on stage, they can then go outside and see the real thing swimming around Slimbridge.
