Paddington Bear at GWR
20 April – Celebrate Paddington Bear’s birthday right here in Gloucestershire, at the special two-day event being held at Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.
Believe it or not, the lovable Paddington Bear is going to be 50 this year, and Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is celebrating the special occasion with a weekend of family fun events this April.
Taking place on both Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 April 2008, visitors to GWR can expect to find a Punch and Judy magic show, bouncy castle, storytelling and colouring and craft activities.
Big and little kids alike are sure to enjoy the fun and games organised by the GWR’s own Fire Brigade – while the Gloucestershire Young Firefighters will be in attendance over the weekend – and there will also be the chance to take a ride on a heritage Routemaster double decker bus.
Paddington Bear himself will, of course, be at the party – mingling amongst the crowds and making time for photos and a chat, and there will even be a Paddington Passport competition.
As well as enjoying Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s usual attractions, the celebration weekend will also be welcoming visitors onto the North Gloucestershire Narrow Gauge Railway.
Whether you were a fan of the Paddington books in the 1950s and 60s or came to love the bear from watching his more recent television show, don’t miss what is set to be a very special occasion indeed this April.
