Billy Smart’s Circus in Cinderford

9 July – Roll up, roll up, Billy Smart’s Circus is descending on the Forest of Dean for the first time ever, with three days of performances under the big top planned in Cinderford.

Voted Britain’s Best Circus last year, Billy Smart’s Circus has gained an outstanding reputation for wowing audiences across the country during its touring show. And this summer Gloucestershire audiences will be able to see what all the hype is about, when the big top is erected at the Steam Mills playing fields in Cinderford.

Taking place on Monday 7 to Wednesday 9 July 2008, organisers promise the three days of live shows will capture all the magic of the circus, with heart-stopping aerial performances, breathtaking gymnastics, clowns, jugglers and plenty more acts which will have families perched firmly on the edge of their seats.

Highlights of the circus will include Duo Biasini – a new addition to Billy Smart’s Circus which will see the two aerial performers combine stunts, grace and beauty in a visual feast of colour; and Clown Chico Rico from Mexico, who mixes slap-stick and comic timing together to have the crowds in fits of laughter.

There’s also the Timur Yakubov Troupe from Kazakhstan, who are a troupe of trapeze artists that fly through the air in a death-defying display of skill; and illusionist Ross Presto & Company, who will be unveiling their new magical performance full of mystery, illusion and suspense.

And that’s just for starters, as audiences at the Billy Smart’s Circus human-only performances in Cinderford can expect a jam-packed programme featuring even more exciting acts, not to mention an orchestra performing live under the big top.

With a history dating back to 1946 under the leadership of the late, great showman Billy Smart, this is the first opportunity for circus lovers in the Forest of Dean to experience this authentic, acclaimed show on their very doorstep.
