Children’s auditions for Dick Whittington
Dick Whittington will be this year’s Christmas pantomime at the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury, and organisers are holding open auditions for talented local children who want to take part.
The Christmas pantomime at the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury is set to be Dick Whittington in 2010, and as well as featuring a professional cast of actors and actresses, talented local children are being encouraged to take part.
Auditions will be held on Sunday 19 September 2010 at 10.30am, for children aged 9 to 15 to join the children’s chorus – with two spots up for grabs for those aged 14 to 18 to play Dick’s cat Tommy too.
As in previous years, there will be two teams of children alternating the 58 performances between November and January, with rehearsals due to start early November.
Organisers have emphasised that children will need to be free throughout the rehearsal and performance period – including being able to take time off school for the final rehearsals and for scheduled matinees in December and January.
Local children who wish to be in the children’s chorus must be able to sing and dance, with some dance training essential. No preparation is needed for the audition – simply arrive at the theatre dressed for a dance audition, and don’t forget that boys are just as welcome as girls.
