Seeing Gok Wan will be just one of the attractions bringing shoppers to Gloucester Quays this May.
Seeing Gok Wan will be just one of the attractions bringing shoppers to Gloucester Quays this May.

The new Designer Outlet at Gloucester Quays opened its doors on Thursday 21 May 2009, and unless you’ve been living in a cave for the last few months you’ve no doubt heard that fashionista Gok Wan will be presiding over the official opening ceremony on Saturday 30 May 2009.

What you might not know, however, is that there are plenty more events being held during the 10 day period to get Gloucestershire’s shoppers flocking to the Docks, while they wait for Mr Wan to make his way to the city shopping destination.

On Thursday 21 May 2009, at 11am, visitors can expect to see an aerial acrobatic act flying high above the mall. Also expect to see fighting pirates, human statues, stiltwalkers, live music and boats sailing outside the mall until 4pm.

On Saturday 23 May 2009, between 10am and 4pm, the nautical-themed entertainment will continue, with a second chance to see the pirates, human statues, stiltwalkers, and live music continuing throughout the day. On the water there will also be a chance to see the boats sailing by the mall, not to mention plenty of chances to grab a bargain or two in one of the brand new shops.

On Sunday 24 May 2009 and Monday 25 May 2009, between 11am and 1pm and between 2pm and 4pm, there will be a pirate-themed craft workshop for the kids. Plus, on the bank holiday Monday Gloucester and England rugby player Luke Narraway will be making a personal appearance and signing autographs at Melka between 12pm and 2pm.

On Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 May 2009, between 11am and 2pm, there will be open auditions for the Gloucestershire Has Talent competition being run by Heart Gloucestershire, when talented individuals can take the limelight in a bid to wow the judges.

On Friday 29 to Sunday 31 May 2009 there will be the Gloucestershire Has Talent Grand Final, not to mention the weekend-long Gloucester Tall Ships Festival 2009.

Finally, on Saturday 30 May 2009 at 10.30am the Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet will be officially opened by Gok Wan.

With a schedule of events for all the family, and promised bargain prices to boot, you can guarantee that the first 10 days of opening for the Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet will be buzzing this May 2009.
