The weekend before Christmas at the Folk Museum
Visit the Folk Museum in Gloucester the weekend before Christmas for special festivities, free activities for the family, and a visit from Santa.
The weekend before Christmas, Gloucester Folk Museum will be making sure the festive spirit is well and truly spread, with a line-up of festive events planned to attract families from across the city.
On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 December 2009, Father Christmas will be making a visit via the top floor chimney and for £3.50 children can receive a wrapped gift from the jolly man himself.
There will be be a free range of fun, festive craft activities for all the family – including the chance to make and decorate mini crackers, baubles and bells, and 3D decorations, from 11am to 3.30pm.
The resident Victorian family will also be back, with mum expected to be making lavender bags to hang on the tree, and dad preparing to tell his spooky ghost stories to visitors at the city centre museum. Plus, Gifford’s Circus Christmas Bear will be dropping in for a visit with Frosty the Snowman.
Plus, every day throughout Christmas, the 500 year-old building which is home to the Folk Museum will be filled with a winter wonderland of decorations, sounds and smells of a traditional Dickensian Christmas, with a special exhibition showing the differences between middle and lower class Victorian life during the Festive season.
