Summer Holidays sports and play in Cheltenham
More than a month of play, sports, day trips and activities await children across Cheltenham this summer holidays.
Children across Cheltenham will have little reason to plead boredom during the school holidays this summer, thanks to an overflowing schedule of activities organised by Cheltenham Borough Council.
Ranging from sports camps, play days and active day trips out and about in the county, from Monday 25 July to Friday 26 August 2011, parents can give their kids something to get excited about during the long break – and give themselves a well earned rest, of course!
Play Zone in Cheltenham
From concocting mad science experiments to conjuring up cracking cookery, with a cacophony of arts and crafts, sports, trips and swimming also on offer, children in Cheltenham will be having heaps of fun throughout the entire summer holidays at the Play Zone holiday scheme.
Suitable for children aged 6 to 12, both full and half-days are available at Balcarras Sports Centre and Rowanfield Infant School, all under the keen eyes of trained Play Workers – with costs ranging from £2 to £14.
Booking in advance is highly recommended at Balcarras Sports Centre, as popular Play Zone days sometime sell-out before the school bells have rung, while you can turn up on the day Rowanfield Infant School.

Sport Zone Roadshow in Cheltenham
Kids bursting with energy will have plenty of ways to burn it off at the Sport Zone Roadshow at Christ College in Cheltenham this summer holidays, giving them a chance to try a range of sports, including football, dodgeball, ‘kwick cricket’, basketball and more.
Held Wednesdays to Fridays from 9.30am to 12.30pm at Christ College, the sporty sessions cost £5 each and are a great way for youngsters aged 8 to 14 to get active while being looked after by qualified coaches.

Day trips from Cheltenham
Combining the thrill of paintball and laser tag, Cheltenham kids aged 7 to 11 have not one, but two chances to take part in an adrenalin-filled day trip to Battlesports Glos this summer holidays. Being held on Thursday 28 July and Thursday 18 August 2011, tickets cost £17 per child.

Cheltenham children aged 8 to 12 can also get a taste of life on the open water on a day trip to South Cerney, where they will get to try their hands at both sailing and kayaking. Being held on Tuesday 9 August 2011, tickets cost £20 per person.

Sports Specific Camps in Cheltenham
A trio of Cheltenham locations will be hosting Sports Specific Camps this summer – which range from tennis in Montpellier for budding Murrays; basketball, dodgeball, basketball, football and kung fu at Christ College; while there’s everything from and water polo, break funk, table tennis, indoor cricket and more at leisure@cheltenham.
Costing from £5 to £15 and running every week during the holidays, the camps will give Cheltenham children the chance to hone their sporty skills – and have a lot of fun – under the guidance of experienced coaches.

Play and Sport Rangers in Cheltenham
Every week of the summer holidays, from 10.30am until 3.30pm, families can find the Sport and Play Rangers at one of Cheltenham’s Parks. Mondays its at Grange Park and Queen Elizabeth II Park; Tuesday at Naunton Park and Clyde Crescent; Wednesdays at Pittville Park and Providence Park; Thursdays at Swindon Village Park and Springfield Park and Fridays at Hillview Park.
Arriving complete with their play and sports equipment, bouncy castle, arts and crafts kit and more, the fully trained Rangers bring a bit of pizazz to playtime, and best of there’s no need to book ahead and it’s all completely free.

National play day in Cheltenham
On Wednesday 3 August 2011, Pittville Park will be the place to head for National Play Day – with an array of fun things for children of all ages to get stuck into.
With a climbing wall, inflatables and tennis as well as arts and crafts, donkey rides, and live performances, there will be something for all ages from toddler to young teen to enjoy from 11am until 3pm.
