The school summer holidays are a busy time for the energetic staff at Dean Heritage Centre, which will be hosting a jam-packed schedule of children’s activities every single day, from Monday 25 July to Sunday 4 September 2011.

Highlights include the brand new pirate-themed Adventure Challenge treasure hunt, where nippers aged 8 and above can join Captain Morgan’s crew to find fun clues. Running daily at 11am and 2pm throughout the holidays, except on Fridays, the special treasure hunt costs £10 per child.

Little history buffs will have the opportunity to try out popular Victorian games from hoopla to riddles on Mondays.

There are also Be Crafty creative activities every Tuesday between 11am and 1pm, costing £2 per child, where kids can create dangly monsters and whirly snakes or print with leaves.

While on Wednesdays from 11am and 1pm, the Wildlife Explorer special skills workshop will be giving young visitors the chance to try pond-dipping, hunting for mini-beasts and bird-spotting.

Dean Heritage Centre’s daily favourites will also be continuing during the school break – with the chance to take the friendly ferrets for a walk every afternoon at 2.30pm promising to be a popular with all ages. There will also be a daily pond audit where the wildlife, birds, animals and insects are identified and counted.

Excluding the Adventure Challenge and Be Crafty all events are included in the museum admission, with booking in advance recommended for the activities.
