Home to the Berkeley family since 1153 – visitors to the pink castle can expect to see everything from Francis Drake’s furniture to the dungeon where King Edward II was murdered. There are also tea rooms, tours with the owner Charles Berkeley can also be pre-booked, and events are held here throughout the year. Berkeley Castle, Gardens and Butterfly House are open Thursdays, Sundays and bank holiday Mondays in April and May; Sundays to Thursdays from the end of May to the start of September; and Thursdays and Sundays in September and October.
