We’ve teamed-up with the Bacon Theatre in Cheltenham to offer SoGlos.com readers the chance to win one of three pairs of tickets to see The Taming of the Shrew on stage on Friday 29 July 2011.

Described as a highlight of the Open-Air Theatre Festival, the Shakespeare comedy will be performed outdoors at the Tuckwell Amphitheatre by Heartbreak Productions – who are celebrating their 20 year anniversary by revisiting their first open-air production.

Audiences at the one-night-only performance will discover that the beautiful Bianca isn’t free to marry until her shrewish sister, Kate, finds a husband. Through a series of introductions the challenge of taming Kate falls to Petruchio and a battle of wills ensues.

Festival organiser, Jess Waterman, said: ‘Their lively rendition of Shakespeare’s feistiest comedy will be suitable for audiences aged 8 to 80 and well beyond!’

Open-Air Theatre Festival regulars may remember Heartbreak’s renditions of Romeo and Juliet in 2006, A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2008 and Emma in 2009, and their 2011 production promises to be as popular as ever this summer.

For more information see Cheltenham Open-Air Theatre Festival.

Tickets for The Taming of the Shrew cost £13 or £11 for concessions from the Bacon Theatre box office on (01242) 258002 or online from ticketweb.co.uk.
