Editor's ChoiceYou might have to drive out of the county to discover the best of Gloucestershire farming, food and rural pursuits this June, but a trip to the Three Counties Show 2012 in nearby Malvern is well worth the effort.
Held at the Malvern Showground for more than 50 years, the annual show brings together the finest that Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire have to offer – with a packed schedule of displays, activities and entertainment to please the entire family.
Spread across three days, the show is predicted to include daily parades of more than 900 varieties of livestock, sheep shearing demonstrations and farming displays, country crafts including forestry, farriery and blacksmithing, as well as a motoring village – complete with vintage vehicles.
Equine lovers are expected to once again be treated to qualifying rounds of the Royal International Horse Show and Horse of the Year Show plus other competitions. There is also expected to be a heavy horse village and harness racing, while falcons, ferrets and gun dogs will be showing-off their unique skills at the event.
Once again it is hoped that the Army, Navy and RAF will also all be putting on impressive displays to wow the crowds and there is a fun fair and rides in hot air balloons to keep you entertained throughout the day.
Food and drink lovers will be treated to shows dedicated entirely to cider and perry, cheese and dairy produce, poultry, bees and honey, while in the cookery theatre a special celebrity guest will be letting you in on their professional kitchen tips.
For the green-fingered, there is a flower and garden show. Plus there is also an array of stalls featuring everything from local produce to antiques if you fancy yourself as a bit of a David Dickinson.
With more than 100,000 people expected to attend the Three Counties Show 2012, you will be in good company.
