Brighten up your day with a trip to Martin’s Gallery in Cheltenham, where you can view a retrospective exhibition of vibrant paintings from renowned local artist Michael B. Edwards.

While the evenings may be drawing in and the thermometers are taking a downward spiral as autumn digs in its heels, a visit to Martin’s Gallery in Cheltenham this October may make you think otherwise.

Thanks to a bright and dazzling exhibition of work by acclaimed local artist Michael B. Edwards, you’d be forgiven for thinking summer has just arrived in the county.

For the fifth year in a row Martin’s Gallery in Cheltenham will be exhibiting the work of the county-based artist, who sadly passed away in December aged 70.

This celebration of the artist’s accomplished work sees village names from across Gloucestershire featured in the painting titles on display, with the artist said to have gained inspiration from the river Severn and the Forest of Dean, as well the Cotswolds, West Country, and further afield.

Drenched in vivid colours and bold brushstrokes Edwards’ modern impressionistic paintings retain clearly identifiable subjects – including landscapes, maritime and life studies constructed in oils and acrylics – and fans will be pleased to see some work exhibited for the very first time.

Offering an opportunity to see a showcase of one of the Gloucestershire art world’s most famous names, catch the Michael B. Edwards exhibition while it is on the doorstep, and let some light into your life this autumn.
