Writer of the hit television series The Tudors will be revealing all in a special evening talk at Sudeley Castle, forming part of the Queen Katherine Parr Quincentenary Festival.

An anticipated early highlight of the Queen Katherine Parr Quincentenary Festival at Sudeley Castle, will be the chance to hear from the famous writer, creator and director Michael Hirst, who will be taking up residence at the Winchcombe attraction for a one-evening-only talk.

On Saturday 28 April 2012, the English screenwriter, best known for penning the hit television series The Tudors, will talk about his passion for Tudor history, giving guests the unique opportunity to find out about scandal, passion and political intrigue of the royal court.

Millions tuned in to watch the award-winning television series, which as you might know followed the story of King Henry VIII and his six wives and stared Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Henry VIII’s last wife, Katherine Parr is reported to have spent the last year of her life at Sudeley Castle – with 2012 marking the 500th anniversary of her birth.

Following the death of her infamous husband, Katherine married the ‘man of her dreams’, Sir Thomas Seymor, and moved to Sudeley. A year later she tragically died days after giving birth.

In addition to The Tudors, Michael Hirst is well known for his film Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchette and Geoffrey Rush, and is currently said to be working on a new film, Mary Queen of Scots.

If this cultural treat sounds like your cup of tea, don’t miss details of Sudeley’s full six-month festival bringing to life the entwined history of the castle and its most illustrious Tudor resident, in a series of historical, literary and musical events, by visiting sudeleycastle.co.uk directly.
