Art lovers across the county are in for a multicultural treat, when Gloucester City Museum will be hosting an Art and Soul exhibition featuring Estonian visions and English perspectives.
From Saturday 12 May to Saturday 30 June 2012, two distinguished and celebrated artists from both countries will be showcasing their works, which centre on the human figure and spirituality.
In 2006, the Estonian Embassy in London organised an exhibition in Tallinn that brought together Estonia’s foremost painter and printmaker, Juri Arrak, and Gloucestershire painter and sculptor, PJ Crook, with great success.
Now the honour is returned, as Juri will be joining our local artist on home soil to unite once again their visions for all to see and enjoy.
Juri Arrak is considered to be one of Estonia’s finest, with his style being recognized worldwide. This led to him being awarded the II class of Order of the White Star by his President in 2000.
While Cheltenham-born PJ Crook was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2011 Birthday Honours for her services to art.
Please note, the dates listed below apply to the opening fortnight of this exhibition only. Full dates for this exhibition are Saturday 12 May to Saturday 30 June 2012.
