The nimble-fingered of Gloucestershire will have the chance to learn from the best at Sudeley Castle and Gardens, when textiles conservator Jacqui Hyman hosts a day of demonstrations and discussions on Thursday 20 September 2012.
Forming part of the Queen Katherine Parr Quincentenary Festival, visitors can expect to gain an insight into the treatment of a variety of Tudor fabrics and textiles, such as dolls, costumes, church furnishings and tapestries.
Jacqui founded what is arguably the leading textile conservation studio in the UK, The Textile Restoration Studio, in 1982, and has spent the last thirty years providing her services to churches, cathedrals, stately homes and the general public.
Organisers say her study days allow visitors to enjoy in-depth discussions about treatments, methodology and the complexities of textile conservation – combining photographs and practical demonstrations along with preventative methods to make for a fun and informative day for all budding conservationists.
They added: ‘Delegates are encouraged to bring along their items for discussion and appraisal – always a fascinating end to an in-depth day.’
