To get you in the mood for the upcoming Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Cheltenham Tourism has organised a special Royal Connections Walking Tour of Regency Cheltenham, promising a refreshing insight into the town’s royal history.
Departing from outside Cheltenham Tourist Information Centre at 11am on Tuesday 5 June 2012, the tour will last approximately 90 minutes and be led by the knowledgeable and registered guide, Mary Badger, from the Cotswold and Gloucestershire Tourist Guides Association.
From the time King George III came to drink from the spa waters, to a visit by Princess Victoria who later went on to become Queen, Cheltenham lays claim to a number of Royal connections – all of which will be commemorated through this exclusive Walking Tour.
Angie Rowlands, manager of the Tourist Information Centre, said: ‘It’s wonderful to have so much happening around the time of this special historic Diamond Jubilee and we are happy to offer a Royal Walking Tour of Cheltenham, tying in with other celebrations in Cheltenham and the surrounding Cotswolds area.’
