The nationwide Diamond Jubilee celebrations of late have been a source of inspiration for many, and local artist Ran Stallard has come up with a novel way of bringing the Queen to her subjects with a pop up QueenBooth.
Forming part of her Art Foundation project, and set to be a sure-fire hit with locals, the talented 19-year-old artist spent 150 hours creating a miniature mimic of Buckingham Palace, complete with Queen and all, for members of the public to have their picture taken with – as a free memento of their 2012 Jubilee and Olympic celebrations.
The right royal experience will be unveiled at Stroud College’s free Art and Design Show, which will run from Fridays 15 to 22 June 2012, and showcase a range of students’ work.
Ran said: ‘I have had so much fun creating this project and now can’t wait to welcome the crowds and capture their excitement when meeting the Queen.
‘An encounter with Her Majesty is an experience many people treasure. It is a special thing but relatively few people ever get to meet The Queen. I want to be able to change that, providing a unique and enjoyable opportunity for many people.’
The QueenBooth will then tour Cheltenham, Bristol and Bath, and Ran plans to upload and share all of the photos on Facebook, hoping to provide a social and dynamic, interactive experience for one and all to enjoy.
